Nirwono Joga, Special Staff to the Jakarta Governor for Development and Urban Planning, stated that the activity was a follow-up to Governor Pramono Anung's directive to create a more organized, safe, and comfortable Jakarta. This closure is part of the 5M movement being implemented across the five administrative areas of Jakarta.
West Jakarta Relocates 7.6 Kilometers of Overhead Cables Across Nine Roads"The Governor's target is to have all aerial cables in Jakarta relocated within the next five years. In the Kembangan area, approximately 5 kilometers will be arranged within two to three weeks," he said, Thursday (11/5).
Nirwono added that the arrangement of aerial cables has five main objectives, namely ensuring the safety of residents, increasing the comfort of sidewalk and road users, smoothing traffic, beautifying the city, and accelerating the transfer of the cable network underground.
The cables targeted for restructuring include fiber optic and telecommunications networks, while the electrical cables cannot be moved directly because they require separate technical planning with PLN.
"Please do not instal the aerial cables again," he added.
Head of Public Works Agency, Taufik Hendayana stated the utility cable disconnection program in West Jakarta covers six roads, totaling 15.5 kilometers.
The six road sections include Jalan Meruya Selatan with a length of 1,100 meters, Jalan Utan Jati with a length of 6,000 meters, Jalan Kusuma with a length of 1,600 meters, Jalan Brigjen Katamso with a length of 2,600 meters, Jalan Kembangan Raya with a length of 3,000 meters, and Jalan Kedoya Pilar with a length of 1,200 meters.
Specifically for the aerial cable utility on Jalan Kembangan Raya, a 3-kilometer cable cut was carried out on Thursday (11/5). The next 1.2-kilometer cable cut on Jalan Kedoya Pilar is scheduled for November 12, 2026.
Supervision and enforcement will be carried out routinely by involving teams in eight districts in the West Jakarta area.
"Each district has a special team that carries out monitoring and arrangement every day," he admitted.
