North Jakarta Police Revealed 159 Drug Cases

The Narcotics Unit of North Jakarta Metro Police have uncovered 159 drug cases and secured 127 the perpetrators of drug abuse from January to April 2014.

Most of drug cases found in Pohon Pisang area, Tanjung Priok Urban Village

The police managed to secure the evidence of 51,858.45 grams of marijuana, 216.27 grams of methamphetamine, 46 ecstasy pills, and 2 grams of heroin.

"Most of drug cases found in Pohon Pisang area, Tanjung Priok Urban Village," said Police Commissioner Tugiyono, Wakasat Resnarkoba North Jakarta Metro Police on Sunday (5/4).

Tugiyono admitted that the drug cases in North Jakarta is still relatively high. "Yes, it is still relatively high after West Jakarta and Central Jakarta," he said.

To suppress the drug abuse cases in society, especially among students, the police routinely conducts the dangers of drugs socialization to junior and senior high schools as well as urban villages. The socialization is run at least two times in a month in order the society and students understand about the dangers of drugs, and they would jointly work together to combat its trafficking and use.

"Combating drug cannot be done by the police alone, but it needs a help and participation of the society," Tugiyono stated.

Therefore, he appealed to the society who know about drug crime in their local environment to directly report to the police.
