Imported beef is sold Rp 85 thousand/kg, while frozen beef is Rp 79 thousand/kg.
Agriculture Minister, Andi Amran Sulaiman, admitted the imported beef distribution is aimed to balance local beef price which already reaches Rp 120 thousand/kg.

He asked importer to keep the stock and distribute imported fresh beef to traders at traditional market. This way must be maintained until beef price is under Rp 100 thousand.
“If the importer is not consistent, we’ll give warning three times, morning, noon, and afternoon. Then we revoke the license on the next day,” he added.
Meanwhile, Jatinegara Market Head, Ali admitted will assist central government in distributing imported fresh meat to traders. There are 22 beef traders at Jatinegara Market.
“They also have freezer to store frozen beef,” he stated.
