Jakarta Governor, Basuki T. Purnama predicts the number of newcomer in Jakarta could reach 70 thousand people. He does not prevent people to come to Jakarta. But he hopes newcomers will not occupy public or slum areas.

“If newcomers live in illegal building, we’ll surely control and send them home,” he said, Monday (7/11).

Basuki added his side will not hold population operation.

“If they have no money, just let them go home,” he added.

Newcomers are able to live in Jakarta as long as have ability and home. Jakarta Provincial Government can not give more flats for newcomers.

According to him, flats are for those who already live in Jakarta for long time.
