Basuki Wants Tour Boat Capacity to Be Monitored

Jakarta Governor, Basuki T Purnama appeals the tourist who traveled by boat in Pasar Ikan, North Jakarta to pay attention to transport capacity.

"I get a report of the mayor that says the boat has exceeded the capacity of the passenger. That is all. Supposedly its capacity must be checked again," he expressed, at City Hall, Monday (8/1).

Basuki disclosed, many passengers of Luar Batang Mosque, using the boat. Previously, there was a bridge connecting between Pasar Ikan to Kampung Luar Batang. But the bridge is still under renovation.

"We deliberately tear down the bridge because we want to install a sheet pile," he expressed.

Sheet pile installation is still being conducted by Water Management Dept. The aim is to secure Pasr Ikan area from tidal wave. "Sheet pile is still being constructed," he told.

As known, due to tumbled boat, one person died. It was due to overloading. Supposedly, the capacity should be 10 people, but it was boarded by 15 people.
