Buser Team Formed in E. Jakarta to Parse Congestion

The local Transportation Sub-Departments keep various ways to minimize traffic congestion in East Jakarta. One of them is by forming the Mobil Detective Unit (Buser), which is a team of trained people and has martial arts skill. Every day, they would conduct sweeping in congestion-prone areas.

The target is drivers who often stop their vehicles in forbidden places until causing congestion. The sanction consists of ticketing, towing, and so on, which aim to give deterrent effect for violators.

The team which consists of 5 personnel in each area will effectively be operated in the field on Monday (5/12). They are equipped by patrol and motorcycle vehicles to optimize their performance.

5,000 Policemen Deployed to Parse Traffic Congestion

According to Benhard Hutajulu, Head of East Jakarta Transportation Sub-Department, the buser team was formed to assist the Transportation Sub-Department personnel in overcoming the congestion. Moreover, there are 91 congestion-prone areas that spread in 10 sub-districts. The amount of buser personnel in the field is about 80 people, and will be divided into two shifts.

"Our personnel is very limited, and it doesn't comparable with congestion-prone areas. That's why, we form the buser team," he expressed, Friday (5/9).

He continued that those congestion-prone areas are located on Jalana Jatinegara Barat, precisely around the gate of Regional Jatinegara Market, Jalan Raya Bogor in Kramatjati, Jalan Mayjen Sutoyo in UKI Cawang, Jalan Otista, and Jalan Dewi Sartika.
