Jakarta Governor, Basuki T. Purnama admitted his side keeps accelerating the infrastructure improvement for flood handling. Usually, flood will occur in early year.

According to him, several water channels have functioned well. It can be seen in early 2016 that flood did not hit all area. Flooded areas are now decreasing.

Basuki predicts flood could appear during regional election next year. The election runs together with the rainy season.
“Our dike is still 2.8 meter high. If the tidal wave reaches above 2.8 meter and the pumps do not function well, 40 percent of Jakarta areas will be flooded,” he explained.
