Jakarta Governor, Basuki T Purnama intends to take over all management of on-street parking in the capital. It is estimated that the policy could increase revenue from parking tax.

"We'll take over all on-street parking that spread in Jakarta, we control them using Parking Technical Management Unit (UPT)," he stated, at City Hall, Friday (8/19).

This year, it is targeted to reach Rp 500 billion of parking tax. Jakarta Transportation Dept plans to install the electronic parking terminal (TPE) at every on-street parking.

By doing so, the tax revenue leakage can be minimized. Currently, TPE machine is on order through e-Catalog. This method can also eradicate any actors who play in the parking tax.

"We offer them one provincial minimum wage (UMP), they will get small. And the boss gets a huge nominal," he disclosed.
