Two Train Cars Catch Fire in Tanjung Priok Station

Due to electricity short-circuit, two Kertajaya train cars (Jakarta-Pasar Turi) are caught on fire at the Tanjung Priok Station railway, Thursday (8/25), at around 1.05 PM. 

To reach the scene, we must go through densely populated and strong wind is very strong. No casualty here

Before the incident, both train cars were in preparation process to be departed. Luckily, fire does not spread to other train cars.

Topa (42), a local citizen near the scene said, fire accompanied by thick smoke came out at the restaurant carriage. The fire then quickly spread to another carriage.

"I see flames comes out from the restaurant train car. Before the firefighter arrives, me and other locals try to put out it. But we failed because the train car's door was closed so we just spray water from outside," he told.

About 15 minutes later, the firefighter arrived but they had difficulties to get in because the access road should be through densely populated area.

"To reach the scene, we must go through densely populated and strong wind is very strong. No casualty here," stated Satriadi Gunawan, Head of North Jakarta Fire Handling and Rescue Sub-dept.

As many as 8 fire trucks and 30 firefighters sent to the field. Until the news published, they are still doing cooling down at the fire location.
