Fire Destroys Two Rented Homes in Kramat Jati

Fire razed two rented homes on Jl Nusa I, RT 01/02 Kramat Jati Urban Village, East Jakarta, Friday (9/16), at around 6.15 AM. There was no casualty in the incident.

Based on the information gathered, fire broke out when a kid played a candle in the home. Unluckily, the candle left and the parents were busy selling staples in the market.

"There is a kid plays a candle, but he/she left it. Moreover, the parents are still in the market. Then the candle quickly burns the surroundings," said Saeful (32), one of local citizens.

Locals had difficulties to put out the flames. Besides lack of water resources, the location access is also difficult to be reached.

Section Head of Operation for East Jakarta Fire Handling and Rescue Sub-dept, Gatot Sulaiman disclosed, 11 fire trucks immediately deployed to the scene and managed to control the flames around one hour later.

"We have yet to know the cause of the fire because it's still under investigation by the police," he told.

The home in the size of 6x10 square meters is owned by Ramlan (55), and occupied by Paimin (56) and Cahyono (40). The material loss is reaching Rp 240 million.
