Jakarta Vice Governor, Basuki 'Ahok' T Purnama regrets the acts of vandalism against parks on Jalan Imam Bonjol and Jalan Teuku Umar, Menteng, Central Jakarta, committed by sympathizers of presidential and vice presidential candidates, Joko Widodo-Kalla and Prabowo-Hatta Rajasa. According to Basuki, the act is an example of bad political education.

"This is vandalism, instead of advancing the country. Both are the same," lamented Basuki, at City Hall, Wednesday (5/21).

He disclosed his party plans to repair those damaged parks and submit documentation to both campaign teams. He added, the park repair will use self-managed system. "I've asked the Parks Department to document before and after of the incident where it can be published and sent as evidence that they have given a bad political education," he expressed.

Basuki acknowledged that Gerindra Party has expressed a desire to repair the damaged park committed by Prabowo-Hatta sympathizers. Besides repairing the park, he also wants they build new parks in other locations as a form of punishment.

"We have sent a letter. The sanction is dedicated to both sympathizers to build parks in other locations," he explained.

As for the information, thousands of sympathizers from the pair of Prabowo-Hatta Rajasa has damaged park which is a road divider at Jalan Imam Bonjol, precisely in front of the General Elections Commission (KPU). It happened when Prabowo and his partner both signed up for presidential candidacy to the KPU on Tuesday. 

A day earlier, Jokowi-Jusuf Kalla sympathizers also did the same action at the park on Jalan Teuku Umar, near the residence of the Chairwoman of Indonesia Democratic Party of Struggle (PDIP), Megawati Sukarnoputri. It happened when Jokowi and his partner for registration to the KPU.
