ERP Targeted to Be Implemented in 2017

Jakarta Transportation Dept is targeting to implement the electronic road pricing (ERP) in 2017.

Not only traffic jam, ERP can also solve regional revenue (PAD) and so on

"Not only traffic jam, ERP can also solve regional revenue (PAD) and so on," said Andri Yansyah, Head of Jakarta Transportation Dept, during a joint meeting of DPRD Commission B, Monday (11/7).

Yansyah stated it is the mandate of Law that will not solely be implemented in Jakarta, but also in other cities in Indonesia.

ERP Revenue Can Subsidize Public Transport

"Experience in some countries, ERP is able to solve traffic jam and revenue can be diverted to other services. Other regions are still awaiting ERP implementation in the city," he expressed.

He expressed, its implementation needs a huge budget thus decided not to use Jakarta APBD.

"Initially, no one interested. In fact, 235 participants have registered in ERP auction. Its response is pretty good," he told.

Yansyah explains already have the study scientific analysis as a cornerstone in the ERP implementation. Later on, it would use based-technology dedicated short range communication (DSRC) andradio frequency identification (RFID). 

"Why we choose them, because has been and will be used in some countries. All of this is already in the study," he disclosed.
