Council Supports Floating Market Project in Seribu Islands

City Council (DPRD) stated they are supporting the planned construction of a floating traditional market in Seribu Islands in 2017. It aims to cut price difference in the island with the mainland of Jakarta.

"The initial discussion between executive legislative has agreed the construction concept that will be prepared later, that is a floating traditional market," said Syarifuddin, a Member of City Council Commission B, Tuesday (11/22).

Syarifuddin disclosed that the market that will be built in one of settlements is a further step of the enactment of the Seribu Islands District as one of the international tourist destination.

City Gears Up to Build Floating Market in Setu Babakan

"The market is not only as a transaction place, but also to attract the foreign tourist," he expressed.

Along with executive, his party also agreed to realize the concept of a floating market development can be realized by PD Pasar Jaya in early 2017.

"Council hopes it can already be proposed in 2017 APBD," he finished.
