City Council Wants Tourism Boat Supervision Tightened

Jakarta City Council stated its condolence of Zahro Express incident on Sunday (1/1).
Routine checking related with worthiness, capacity, and equipment must be applied,
“The incident will be an evaluation material for Jakarta Dept. of Transportation,” said City Council Commission B Chairman, Tubagus Arief.
He added that Jakarta Dept. of Transportation should monitor the tourism boat activity tightly.

Yuke explained the incident will not happen if the boat operational worthiness is already based on standardization and checked routinely.
“Council has reminded the agency many times related with sea transportation improvement. Moreover, Seribu Islands has been campaigned as one of national tourism destinations by President Joko Widodo,” he explained.
According to him, council will summon related units to explain the incident.
