Flames Destroyed 80 Percent of Pasar Senen Building

Fire that hit Block I and II of Pasar Senen, Central Jakarta this morning, Thursday (1/19), already razed 80 percent of the market building. The damage can be worse, because the flames cannot be extinguished until 12.30 PM. 

Fire has burned 80 percent of the building. We still continue to extinguish the flames. We had controlled it, but enlarged again

Hundreds of firefighter officers and 56 fire trucks that consist of quick response, pump car, high pressure, high rescue, unit foam, etc, still continue to try extinguishing the flames.

Pasar Senen Management Must Provide Relocation Place

Head of Jakarta Fire Handling and Rescue Dept, Subejo disclosed, the flames has destroyed two floors of Block I and II. 

"Fire has burned 80 percent of the building. We still continue to extinguish the flames. We had controlled it, but enlarged again," he stated. 

He was relying on the availability and supply of water. Currently officers on the water supply of Lio River, Bungur Swimming Pool and Kwitang River.

"Hopefully, if there is no constraint, we can extinguish the flames this afternoon," he hoped.
