Here Are Three Priority Programs of North Jakarta to Overcome Flood

Three programs are prioritized in North Jakarta to overcome flooding. Those are river normalization and repair of pump and sheet pile.

In this year we have three programs. They are dredging mud in rivers, connecting channels or drains, as well as repairing pumps and sheet piles

North Jakarta Water Resources Sub-dept. Head, Herning Wahyuningsih said the mud dredging and sheet pile in six sub-districts have been done since January 2017 by deploying 20 excavators.

"In this year we have three programs. They are dredging mud in rivers, connecting channels or drains, as well as repairing pumps and sheet piles," she said on Monday (2/20).

He added, dredging is done with a depth of about 1.5 to 3 meters, depending on water flow from upstream to downstream.

Then for river normalization, has been ongoing in Ancol River, Tanjungan, Ring Road, Banglio, Cilincing Raya, Petukangan, Swasembada's connecting channel (PHB), Mawar, and Sunter Kresek.

Aside that, her sub-dept. also has repaired water pumps in 14 pump houses. Right now, all pumps are in ready-to-be-operated condition to overcome flooding.
