50 Street Vendors in Kota Tua Controlled

As many as 50 Street Vendor’s (PKL) shanties who usually take hold in Kota Tua area, Tamansari, West Jakarta, controlled by joint officers from Satpol PP, National Army, and Police, Tuesday (6/17). Besides of make area nearby Kota Tua becomes chaotic, the existence of PKL also affects traffic to be jammed.

We hauled everything to the trucks, either carts and stalls belong to food and drink sellers. We did it because their existence is making Kota Tua looks chaotic and also causing traffic congestion

 

Tamansari Sub-District head, Paris Limbong said, on the control, he deploys 30 joint officers. The control conducted on Kota Tua area, starts from Jalan Lada, Pintu Besar Utara, front of Beos Station, front of Bank BNI, Bank Mandiri, and the other.

Vendors Rampant, Revitalization in Kota Tua Takes Long TIme

“Everything, whether carts or shanties which controlled and carried to the truck are belong to food and drink traders. We conducted the action because their (PKL) existence besides make Kota Tua seems more chaotic they also make the road where they usually hold become prone to be jammed,” said Limbong, Tuesday (6/17).

 

Limbong said that based on the rules, before conducting control, he already makes persuasive steps to notify traders to not trading on the road sides

 

Limbong continued even though it already defined as official place, but PKL still be recalcitrant and even they becomes more. So that he have to take decisive action.

“We already make persuasive efforts. But, they still be recalcitrant and we have to carry and transport it to the truck,” Limbong asserted.

 

Suryadi (45), a street vendor owned a cart who usually hold on Bank BNI area he immediately make efforts to runaway by pushing his cart to see the existence of local officers.

In the end he only can surrender to see his cart carried above the truck when he was under siege by officers. “I am already trading here (Bank BNI area) for more than 30 years. Since all the time this is the third my cart carried by officers,” he said.
