Car Free Day Hoped to Be People's Lifestyles

As we know, the Car Free Day in Jakarta has been ongoing since 15 years. 

If the use of public transport is low, the air quality will increase

Jakarta Transportation Dept. Vice Head, Sigit Wijiatmoko expressed, up to 15 years, public interest participating in Car Free Day in Jakarta is quite high.

West Jakarta to Hold Car Free Day in Grogol Petamburan

"Car Free Day is not only the interaction space, but also a means of education. It is hoped that this activity can become a culture and lifestyle of the public," he expressed, during the Car Free Day's 15h anniversary along Jalan MH Thamrin, Central Jakarta, Sunday (9/24).

According to him, one of the event aims is to improve air quality in Jakarta. Thus, education and socialization about use of public transport continues to be intensified.

"If the use of public transport is low, the air quality will increase," he exclaimed.

Meanwhile, Representative of the Lead Gasoline Removal Committee, Alfred Sitorus added every SKPD requires making a breakthrough to restore the function of Car Free Day as an air pollution controller. Moreover, the implementation of Car Free Day is regulated in Gubernatorial Regulation No. 12/2016.

"The main aim is it must be up to the people. They must be orderly, and do not use private vehicles excessively," he finished.
