Railway Crossings Closure Trial Continuous to Be Finalized

If there is no alternative way, closure won't be applied

Jakarta Transportation Dept. has not been able to conduct a trial on the closure of all railway crossings in the capital. Because, until now, there are some railway crossings have no an alternative way to pass by riders.

Jakarta Transportation Dept. Head, Andri Yansyah said, closure of railway crossings could be done if there is already an alternative way. Currently, from 14 railway crossings that will be closed, some still have no alternative way.

Second Phase of Railway Crossing Closure will Be Applied

"If there is no alternative way, closure won't be applied. So not all underpasses, flyovers or railway crossings have alternative way," he expressed, Tuesday (10/24).

According to Andri, it is preferred to railway crossings that have an alternative way. Some of the crossings that have been closed are in Rubber Bivak, Pejompongan 2, Kalibata, Pramuka and Pisangan.

"We tested and then we evaluate. If it's not effective, we make improvements. If it is effective, it will be permanent," he said.

He added, the next location is in Angke. So far, his dept. has prepared an alternative way that can be used by vehicle users.
