"We want to know, whether there is a retribution for newcomers who move to stay in Jakarta," he expressed.

Edison Sianturi, Head of Jakarta Population and Civil Registration Dept. explained that his dept. has the main duty and function (tupoksi) as mandated by Law No. 24/2013 on administration of population.

The rules, he expressed, apply equally to similar institutions in provinces, sub-districts and cities throughout Indonesia.

"Population administration services in Jakarta that has been running so far is intended to be used by sectoral agencies in an effort to improve the welfare of people," he explained.

"The population data coming is dynamic. Then for newcomers entering the city, won't get retribution charge whatsoever," he concluded.
