UKP4 Discuses BMW Stadium Construction

The polemic over construction of BMW stadium as Lebak Bulus Stadium replacement continues to develop. Even the Jakarta Sports and Youth Department asks for a recommendation from the Presidential Working Unit for Supervision and Management of Development (UKP4).

"We keep discussing this polemic in UKP4," said Head of Jakarta Sports and Youth Department, Ratiyono, at City Hall, Wednesday (7/2).

Land Certificate of BMW Park to Finish Soon

According to Ratiyono, land ownership certificate of BMW Park located on Jalan RE Martadinata, Papanggo Urban Village, Tanjung Priok Sub-District, North Jakarta, has been sent to Youth and Sports Ministry. He also optimistic recommendation for Lebak Bulus Stadium demolition will be released as soon as possible.

Besides certificate, other documents sent by Sports Ministry are image building design, cost, and fund stages. "Another requirement is complete. There are building design, image, cost, planning, and fund stages," he expressed.

Head of Public Communication for Sports Ministry, Gatot S Dewa Broto disclosed that the Sports Ministry remains committed to helping the city administration. Moreover, the BMW stadium is also related with the Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) project, which must be fully supported by all parties.

"Nevertheless, the recommendation in question must refer to the provisions of relevant regulation, namely Law No.3/2005 on National Sports System, which mentions that every person is prohibited to negate and or change sport infrastructures that have become government or local government's assets without ministerial recommendation," he uttered.

Additionally, such recommendation must also refer to Sports Ministry's Regulation No. 0057A/2013 on Guidelines of Application and Recommendations Elimination Provision and Change in the Function of Sports Infrastructure Assets or owned by the Government or Local Government.

"Indeed, the city administration has sent document (including replacement land certificate copies in North Jakarta BMW Park) to Sports Ministry and was received on June 9, 2-14," he told.
