Jakarta Governor, Anies Baswedan attended Diphtheria Vaccination Social Service for children and adults at Wisma Siti Mariam, Jalan Kedoya Raya, Kebon Jeruk, Sunday (1/14).
If all Jakartans get diphtheria immunization, then this disease can be handled
This event was held by Perhimpunan Indonesia Tionghoa (Inti), Gereja Santo Andreas Paroki Kedoya, and Paguyuban Warga Green Garden.
In his speech, Anies expressed his gratitude for communities initiated this activity since it is in line with Jakarta Government programs.
Anti-Diphtheria Socialization must Be More IntensifiedHe conveyed, diphtheria disease in Jakarta can't be taken lightly because of increased cases in recent three years. In 2015, there are 10 cases and increased in 2016 into 17 cases. Then in 2017, it becomes 109 cases.
"There is significant increase thus it can't be taken lightly. This case needs tremendous handling," he expressed.
To handle diphtheria disease, his side has prepared 1.2 million diphtheria vaccines for the first phase and 1.7 million vaccines for the second phase.
"Total 2.9 million diphtheria vaccines for children and residents under 19 years old. Recently, around 78 percent or 622 thousand people have been reached in first phase," he informed.
He reminded
people with flu to check their condition in nearest health center regarding of diphtheria.He added, diphtheria case handling is not only Jakarta Government responsibility, but also other related sides.
"If all Jakartans get diphtheria immunization, then this disease can be handled," he stated.
