Becakayu Toll Project's Concrete Girder Collapsed

Timber bracket which is used to support concrete girder for Bekasi Cawang Kampung Melayu (Becakayu) Toll on Jalan DI Panjaitan, Cipinang Cempedak, Jatinegara, East Jakarta, collapsed on Tuesday (2/20). Seven workers are injured due to this incident.

Based on information on the field, several workers were conducting casting on wing lanes above supporting stakes around 3 AM. Suddenly girder boxes on both wings collapsed.

East Jakarta Police Head, Kombes Pol Tony Yoyon Surya Putra mentioned, victims were crushed by cast material. Those seven workers are Joni Arisman, Rusman, Supri, Kirpan, Sarmin, Agus that were taken to UKI Cawang Hospital and Waldi who was taken to Polri Kramatjati Hospital.

"Timber bracket which is used to support stakes for casting is loosened. Casting material fell and crushed workers under it," he explained at the location.

According to him, his side is still investigating the cause of this incident. His side has also interogated project operator.

"All victims have been evacuated to UKI Hospital and Polri Kramat Jati Hospital. We are still investigating it and ask for witness statements," he added.

Collapsed debris has been covered by blue tarpaulin. Police line is also installed outside of project's fence cover. Some Police Puslabfor personnel are also investigating around the site.
