Council Supports Development of Water Tourism in Jakarta

City DPRD is supporting the plan of Jakarta Provincial Government that will develop the lakes and reservoirs in the capital to become water tourism.

"This is a good idea, if all the lakes and reservoirs are made free water tourism for the residents. We are very supportive," expressed Muhammad Ongen Sangaji, Vice Chairman of City DPRD's Commission B, Wednesday (2/28).

Sunter Lake Festival will Be Pilot for Water Tourism Development in Jakarta

From tens of lakes and reservoirs in the capital, he assessed, only a few have been used as water tourism. Among them are Sunter Lake in North Jakarta and Setu Babakan in South Jakarta.

"Related dept. must maintain the water quality and revitalize the lake thus it is really worthy of being a water recreational site," he said.
