Jokowi Distributed Zakat Mal to Citizens

Jakarta Governor Joko ‘Jokowi’ Widodo once again did impromptu visit, or locally called as blusukan, to a densely populated settlement at RW 07, Penjaringan, North Jakarta, Thursday (7/24). In that occasion, he distributed zakat mal (obligatory Islamic income-based alms) to the needy.

His arrival was immediately greeted by hundreds of people who already waiting for him. Not long after, he distributed three kilograms of rice and envelopes containing money to the citizens.
“This is my zakat mal, but I don’t need to tell the amount,” he stated while distributing rice and money to the locals.
Thousands of Students Chase Bazis ScholarshipNorth Jakarta Mayor, Heru Budi Hartono, who accompanied Jokowi, told that 600 kilograms of rice are distributed to the citizens. Besides Penjaringan, Jokowi also distributes zakat mal at four other areas in Jakarta gradually.
