Karet Bivak TPU Crowded by Pilgrims

Entering the second day of Eid ul Fitr celebration, thousands of pilgrims have crowded the Karet Bivak Public Cemetery (TPU), Tanah Abang, Central Jakarta. As a result, traffic congestion cannot be avoided due to many pilgrims' vehicles parked on the roadside.

Winda, (30), one of pilgrims disclosed she and her family routinely conduct the pilgrimage prior to and during Eid ul Fitr. "At the beginning of the fasting month, I made ​​a pilgrimage and do it again on the second day of Eid ul Fitr," stated a Setiabudi citizen, South Jakarta, Tuesday (7/29).

Hundreds of Tombs Inundated in Karet Bivak TPU

Another pilgrim, Alex (45), told that besides silaturahmi (friendly visits) with family, he also used Eid ul Fitr moment to pilgrimage to his relatives' tomb.

"I get a day off from my office, thus I use it to visit my relatives' tomb," he exclaimed.

On the other hand, such condition brings blessing to cemetery janitors and flower sellers around the cemetery. "Alhamdulilah (thank God), until this afternoon, I reap profit about Rp 100 thousand from pilgrims," admitted Yanto, a cemetery janitor.
