Satpol PP Inspects Fishermen Boats in Seribu Islands

Joint personnel holds inspection towards fishing boats in South Seribu Islands waters. This inspection is done to check their documents and fishing gear usage.

We found out five boats are still using fish trawl

Seribu Islands Satpol PP Head, Partono mentioned, inspection is done routinely to ensure fishermen to be orderly in administration and not using illegal fishing gear such as cantrang or fish trawl since it can damage coral reefs.

Sea Patrols in Seribu Islands will Be Reintensified

"Inspection is done from yesterday. We have checked 24 boats and all permission documents are complete. But we found out five boats are still using fish trawl," he informed, Thursday (10/11). 

He stated, fish trawl can not only damage coral reef, but it can also net small fry. Thus his side continues to monitoring fishermen in the area. Fishermen who are caught using fish trawl will be educated and sign a statement letter for not using it again.
