W. Jakarta Proposes Naturalization on Nine Reservoirs

West Jakarta Government has submitted proposal to naturalize nine reservoirs in eight sub-districts. Those are Tomang Reservoir, Rawa Kepa Reservoir, Hankam 1 and Hankam 2 Reservoirs, Grogol Reservoir, Wijaya Kusuma Reservoir, Bojong Reservoir, Srengseng Urban Forest's Reservoir, and Peternakan Reservoir.

Residents who live near the location can utilize those reservoirs for exercising and traveling

West Jakarta Water Resources Sub-dept. Head, Imron stated, naturalization program aims reservoirs in West Jakarta to be not only used to hold water, but also as a place that provides park where people can exercise and interact with each other.

"Residents who live near the location can utilize those reservoirs for exercising and traveling. Later on, we will build jogging track and playground. We have submitted proposal about naturalization on these nine reservoirs," he stated, Monday (10/15).

River Normalization Designed to Fix Ecosystem

His side also dredges three of nine reservoirs in West Jakarta. Those are Kapuk Peternakan Reservoir, Wijaya Kusuma Reservoir, and Srengseng Urban Forest Reservoir.

"Mud sedimentation dredging is needed to anticipate reservoir water not to overflow and inundate resident settlements. Now, reservoir dredging still continues in stages," he informed.
