Five Sluice Gates Built in Sawah Besar

Jakarta Government builds five sluice gates along Ciliwung River that crosses Sawah Besar Sub-district, Central Jakarta.

Sluice gates construction is started since October and now its progress reaches 70 percent

Sawah Besar SDA Unit Head, Nanang Gusnandi mentioned, those five sluice gates are built on Jalan Antara, Jalan Cempaka, Jalan Rajawali Selatan XII, Jalan Kelinci and Jalan Sentul.

"Sluice gates construction is started since October and now its progress reaches 70 percent," he informed, Monday (11/12).

Besides sluice gates, his side also builds stilling basin (kolam olak) on Jalan Pangeran Jayakarta intersection, Mangga Dua Selatan. Sluice gates construction is targeted to complete by the end of December 2018.

"Function of this sluice gate is to hold overflowing water from Ciliwung River thus it will not flow to settlement," he stated.

Sawah Besar Sub-district Head, Martua Sitorus added, five sluice gates and stilling basin are built to handle inundation during rainy season.

"Stilling basin construction is now completed. While five sluice gates construction is still progressing," he said.
