E. Jakarta, 400 Participants Attend Local Tax Socialization

400 participants attended socialization held at East Jakarta Mayor office in order to increase local tax revenue on Thursday (11/29). Participants are administrators from RTs/RWs, LMK, Region Council, sub-district/urban village heads, UKPD heads, and representatives from Indonesian Hotels and Restaurants Association (PHRI).

From this socialization, we expect participants can remind taxpayers to pay their tax arrears immediately

East Jakarta Assistant for Administration and Community Welfare, Ari Sonjaya mentioned, this socialization was conducted to enhance participant's understanding about the importance of tax. He expects Tax Service and Local Retribution (PPRD) Sub-dept. can build a good synergy with related units in order to increase tax revenue.

"From this socialization, we expect participants can remind taxpayers to pay their tax arrears immediately. Because the collected taxes will be also returned to residents in form of development in their regions," he conveyed.

Meanwhile, East Jakarta Tax and Local Retribution Sub-dept. Head, Johari said, tax collection is targeted to reach Rp 2.73 trillion this year. But currently, it is only collected Rp 1.84 trillion or about 67.4 percent.

"Currently, Jakarta Government applies policy that removes penalties for PBB-P2 tax arrears. We must use this chance to increase tax revenue. Residents should also use this chance well to avoid pay the penalties," he conveyed.

 

According to him, taxpayers should use this chance to pay their tax arrears, because if not, his side will not hesitate to involve Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) for its assistance to collect the taxes.
