Jokowi Accepts Visit from Japan’s Foreign Affairs Minister

Jakarta Governor Joko ‘Jokowi’ Widodo gets a visit from Japan's Foreign Affairs Minister, Fumio Kishida, at City Hall, Tuesday (8/12). In this meeting, both officials discussed several important issues related to Indonesia-Japan relationship.

The point is that he wants the relationship with Indonesia to be strengthened in the future

According to Jokowi, there are three major issues discussed. The first is related to legal supremacy in sea area.

“The point is that he wants the relationship with Indonesia to be strengthened in the future,” uttered Jokowi after the meeting.

Foreign Ambassadors Complained Jakarta Congestion

The other two issues discussed are matters related to investment and infrastructures development needed by both countries, especially sea infrastructures such as seaports and the plan to build sea toll.

“He told that Japan (government) will give support,” said Jokowi.

In that occasion, Jokowi also conveyed his wish to accelerate infrastructures construction projects in Jakarta as well as the continuation of Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) mega project construction.

“We’re actually wanted to talk about Jakarta’s issues. As for investment, we allocate it to infrastructures. Earlier, the minister also addressed complaints on slow permits (making process),” stated Jokowi.
