PT Transjakarta to Buy 100 Double-decker Buses

To support the implementation of Electronic Road Pricing (ERP) system by Jakarta Provincial Government, PT Transportasi Jakarta (Transjakarta) gets additional work to operate free double-decker buses. For this, city government will give capital contribution by government (PMP) to buy 100 double-decker buses this year.
This work is deliberately handed out to PT Transjakarta because later all public transportation management will be under PT Transjakarta
“Those buses will be operated on ERP lanes. This work is deliberately handed out to PT Transjakarta because later all public transportation management will be under PT Transjakarta,” stated Jakarta Vice Governor Basuki T Purnama, Wednesday (8/13).
According to Basuki, the bus purchase will be done through e-catalog. If all buses could not be bought this year, the purchase will be continued next year.
Free Double-decker Buses Prepared for ERP Lanes“We don’t want to hold auction,” he asserted.
With these free-double-decker buses, private vehicle users are expected would shift to using public transport. Not only on ERP lanes, those buses will also be operated in important areas, such as Semanggi, Kota Tua, Kuningan, Gunung Sahari, Ancol, and Kemayoran.
“We want to deploy those buses in central areas, so those ugly cars (public transports) would step aside. The buses are free of charge, will pass in every 10 minutes,” he told.
In addition, Basuki stressed that the operational of free double-decker buses would not disturb existing public transports like Kopaja and Metromini.
“We don’t have enough bus. We’ll do tight KIR test. If you tight KIR test, would those buses (Kopaja and Metromini) be gone? If they (Kopaja and Metromini operators) bought new ones, we’ll integrate them with TransJakarta buses and pay per kilometer,” he uttered.
