Jakarta Industry and Energy (PE) Department held workshop about curation for artisans included in Jakarta's Small Medium Industries (IKM)s at City Hall. It was done to educate Jakarta IKMs to prepare them to be a part in the biggest craft exhibition in New York called New York Now 2019.

We hope IKMs can use this chance as one way to penetrate the market in US

Acting Jakarta PE Department Head (Plt), Ricki Marojahan Mulia said, IKMs who participate in this workshop learn about United States (US) market's characteristic and trends for New York Now 2019 exhibition.

"New York Now 2019 exhibition is held on August 11-14, 2019. We want to facilitate IKMs thus could be selected to join this abroad exhibition," he mentioned, Monday (2/18).

In this chance, Jakarta PE Department cooperated with Consulate General of the Republic of Indonesia in New York to invite a consultant from America who are also cooperate with New York Now 2019 exhibition, Jennifer Isaacson, as the speaker in this workshop.

"This is the third time we have done similar workshop in Jakarta. Indonesia is certainly becoming a player in global marketplace for handicraft and handmade goods," she stated.

According to her, handmade is one of highest developing markets in US right now. She wants to share her knowledge to IKMs about way to identify market trends, especially that relates with US market.

"We also want to facilitate IKMs to understand details about market segmentation in US. We hope IKMs can use this chance as one way to penetrate the market in US," added Yohannes Jatmiko, Consul for Economic Affairs of Consulate General of the Republic of Indonesia in New York.
