Street Vendors Under Pagi Market Flyover Controlled

As many as 75 stalls owned by street vendors under the Pagi Market Flyover, Asemka, Roa Malaka Urban Village, Tambora Sub-District, West Jakarta, demolished by local officers on Monday (8/18). Whereas, the vendors often pay dues routinely.

Oyonh, (39), an accessories for women vendor expressed he has paid Rp 20,000 as cleanliness and rental to thugs. "I routinely pay dues here, and have been selling accessories nearly 10 years. My stall is supposed not to be demolished," he complained, Monday (8/18).

Head of Tambora Sub-District,t Yunus Burhan disclosed demolishment is conducted because vendors also set up their stalls until pedestrian, causing traffic congestion on both sides of the road.

Shanties and Illegal Stalls on Jalan Cempaka Putih Controlled

"Street vendors are very disturbing. Their stalls have jutted into the road until causing congestion," he expressed.

He added before demolishment, his side had sent warning letter to the vendors first. But he denied there was no illegal levy practice in the field.

"It is already a week, we sent them the warning letter. But they ignored it and we decided to crack down them forcibly. Certainly, we never do illegal levy," he asserted.
