East Jakarta LH Sub-department Office Yard Used for Urban Farming

East Jakarta Environment (LH) Sub-department uses its office's yard for urban farming. This 200 square meters land is used to grow spinach, chili pepper, eggplant, bok choy and dragon fruit.

We also plan to encourage urban villages and sub-districts to support urban farming in East Jakarta

"We also plan to encourage urban villages and sub-districts to support urban farming in East Jakarta by implementing it in their offices," conveyed Wahyudi Rudianto, East Jakarta LH Sub-department's Hygiene and B3 Waste Management Head, on Thursday (3/28).

He applies hydroponic technique by using 10 drums with 50 centimeters diameter and placing it above pump engine rooms. This equipment is used to grow rice and dragon fruit. Dragon fruit tree can produce four fruits or around 1 kilogram per tree. While vegetables can be harvested every month.
