Motorbike Circuit will Be Built in Pulogadung

Due to its area does not suitable and strategic, Jakarta Provincial Government canceled plan to build a motorbike circuit in Marunda area, Cilincing, North Jakarta. Therefore, Jakarta government prefers to build it in Pulogadung area, East Jakarta.

"We decided to build the motorbike circuit in Pulogadung, considering Marunda area is not strategic," said Jakarta Vice Governor, Basuki 'Ahok' T Purnama, at City Hall, Thursday (8/21).

He explained that the Marunda area is deemed not strategic. "The land in East Jakarta is more commercial thus it has a good potential for business. Predictably, circuit construction will take one year," he expressed.

City to Build Motorcycle Circuit

Head of Jakarta Sports and Youth Department, Ratiyono explained that he does not know yet whether the land in Pulogadung belongs to PT Jakarta Propertindo (Jakpro) is feasible or not. Therefore, the experts team should check the land. including soil depth, soil contour, until its type.

"We're still studying the land structures in East Jakarta. I think its process could finish in two days," he exclaimed.

He added that such motorbike circuit construction on land as wide as 15 hectares would spend Rp 50-100 billion and be covered by PT Jakpro.

"The construction will finish at least eight months," he expressed.

He added the project is also a request of the Association of Motor Indonesia (IMI). "Previously, the IMI had filed motorbike circuit construction to the government. Even, they also already have its design," he finished.
