Company Owner Fled, Tens of Workers Demand Their Rights to Manpower Sub-Dept

We want the company to immediately pay off our right. If the company is terminated, we ask for severance

Tens of workers incorporated in PT Myung Shiung visited the office of North Jakarta Manpower and Transmigration Sub-Department, Jalan Raya Plumpang, Tugu Selatan, Koja, Friday (8/22). They who also represent 450 their colleagues asked for assistance regarding their future, following PT Myung Shiung owner had fled to foreign country since  July.

PT Myung Shiung located in Kawasan Berikat Nusantara (KBN) is a company engaged in the garment sector. The company itself has 450 active employees. But suddenly, the owner of the company fled to foreign country since last July. As a result, their salary in June has not been paid off.

Wiwin Kustiyani, (31), one of workers admitted since June, all workers have not received salary and Eid ul Fitr Bonus (THR). "We want the company to immediately pay off our right. If the company is terminated, we ask for severance," exclaimed Kustiyani who has been working for 14 years in such company.

She revealed she and other workers deliberately survived in the company due to they worried her bossplans to bring the remaining assets, which is estimated at Rp 2.5 billion. But its amount must be deducted the factory rent arrears to KBN amounting to Rp 1.2 billion, as well as electricity cost, water cost, etc about Rp 600 million.

Head of North Jakarta Manpower and Transmigration Sub-Department, Mujiono said besides Jakarta, PT Myung Shiung also has a factory in Sukabumi, West Java. Even he had also summoned the company's legal counsel and commissioner in Sukabumi. 

"Yesterday, we sent a letter to the company's legal counsel and commissioner in Sukabumi, that saying they shall pay off their workers' right. This noon, we will hold a meeting," he expressed.

According to him, his sub-department has tried to ban the company owner, but he (the person in question) has fled to foreign country.
