The Thousand Islands Maritime, Fishery and Food Security Sub-agency continues to hold guidance for fishermen and home businessmen incorporated in the Sebira Sejahtera joint venture group (KUB).

We also provide assistance about fishing facilities and guidance for making seafood processing products

It is done to eight KUBs on Sebira Island, Harapan Island Urban Village, North Thousand Islands in terms of socialization about marine protected areas and use of fishing gear to protect marine ecosystems. 

"We also provide assistance about fishing facilities and guidance for making seafood processing products," expressed Thousand Islands Maritime, Fishery and Food Security Sub-agency Head, Sutrisno, Friday (4/26).

Besides processing fish into salted fish and crackers, it is also processed into meatballs, nuggets and steaks.

He noted that assistance provided along January-April for 37 KUBs on 11 residential islands are bubu tangkap (fish trap without damaging corals) that consists of 1,000 pieces of wire mesh, 2,000 pieces of trap nets, fishing equipment, equipment gear and fish cool box that consists of 210 boxes (50 liters), 290 boxes (100 liters), and 50 boxes (200 liters).  

Then the rest are 50 sets of basic handline fishing, 150 sets of konceran (fish technique) handline fishing, 150 sets of kotrekan (rig for bottom fishing), and 200 pieces of tool kits.

"By so we hope they can improve the economy," he said.
