Electrical Short-Circuit, Fire Destroys 5 Buildings and 1 Car in Cipulir

A massive fire razed a wood frame craftsman house, four rented houses, and one Toyota Avanza car B 2271 VK at Jalan Cildug Raya towards Kebayoran Lama Market, Saturday (8/23).

"Fire broke out at around 10.30 AM from a house belongs to Mr. Latief (craftsman of wood frame)," expressed Buyung (35), an eyewitness, Saturday (8/23).

At that time, Buyung continued that the blaze was quickly growing up after burning woods inside the house. No wonder, a car type Toyota Avanza near the scene was also burned. "I also heard an explosion there," he told. 

Fire Guts 125 Tenements in Kemayoran

Not long after, as many as 15 fire trucks of South Jakarta Fire and Disaster Handling Sub-Department arrived about 5 minutes after receiving a report. The localization process was done in a bid to minimize the blaze thus it does not spread to next house.

Nearly one hour, firemen managed to extinguish the blaze. There was no casualty reported in the incident.

Vice Chief of Kebayoran Lama Sector Police, Adj. Comr. Suyud said police officers are currently still conducting investigation at the fire location. "We're still finding out the cause of the fire. Temporary allegation, it is triggered by electrical short-circuit," he reported.

The loss is predicted reaching hundreds of millions rupiah. Due to this incident, traffic congestion happens from Cipulir towards Kebayoran Lama.
