Yogyakarta Agriculture and Food Security Agency Vice Head, Sugeng Purwanto added that his party needs a new breakthrough and innovation to preserve conventional agricultural lands in Yogyakarta.

"We do this as Jakarta can be a barometer on the development of urban agriculture in realizing food security," he explained.

Through urban farming, it will have the potential to improve community welfare.

"Hopefully this can also provide many benefits to other communities in Indonesia," he told.

He added that the empowerment of farmers should be carried out continuously for creating a new generation of agricultural cultivation activities in urban areas.

"Breakthroughs and ideas in the implementation of agriculture in big cities are also much needed, as conventional land continues to decrease at any time," he said.
