Panitia Kurban Diimbau Tak Gunakan Kantong Plastik Sekali Pakai

Qurban Committees Urged Not to Use Disposable Plastic Bags

Approaching Eid-ul Adha on August 11, all the qurban animal committees are urged to use eco-friendly layers such as banana leaves, taro leaves, bamboo baskets, coconut leaves and pandanus leaves while distributing qurban meats, instead of using disposable plastic bags.

This is because plastic bag is a type of waste that takes hundreds of years to decompose naturally

"This is because plastic bag is a type of waste that takes hundreds of years to decompose naturally," said Jakarta Environment Agency Head, Andono Warih, Tuesday (7/23).

Anti-Plastic Campaign Keeps Being Intensified

Especially for black plastic bag is the result of recycling used plastic that contains carcinogens and has various chemicals that add to the harmful effects on health.

"We certainly cannot also know the use of black plastic before it is recycled," he explained.

Actually the government has announced this policy in a long time ago. In 2009, the Indonesia Food and Drug Monitoring Agency (BPOM) released a public warning about danger of black plastic bag.

"There is still enough time for the committee to prepare well," he stated.
