Monas Week Has Major Effect on Increase in Tourist Visits

The Jakarta Tourism and Culture Agency revealed that the Monas Week event in Monas area, Gambir, Central Jakarta will contribute to the increasing number of tourist visits to Jakarta.

We want a twofold increase

Based on the data, the number of Monas visitors in June 2019 reaches 1.5 million people or 50,000 people per day. But, through this event, its number is targeting to hit 3 million people in a month or 100,000 people per day.

"We want a twofold increase," said Jakarta Tourism and Culture Agency Head, Edy Junaedi, Wednesday (7/24).

Moreover it is not an annual agenda but every month. "So hopefully we get budget injection next year," he hoped.

This year, the number of visitors in Jakarta is also optimized by targeting 38.5 million domestic tourists and 2.9 million foreign tourists.

"In the first quarter of 2019, its number already hit 20,165,000 domestic tourists and 1.5 million foreign tourists. It has touched more than 50 percent from our target," he stated.
