August 2019, Deflation in Jakarta Reaches 0.05 Percent

Transportation, communication, and financial service sectors in Jakarta experienced deflation by 0.50 percent in August 2019.

Deflation in transportation is supported by government which encourages citizens to use public transportation

Jakarta Secretary Assistant for Economy and Financial, Sri Haryati conveyed data from Jakarta Central Bureau of Statistic (BPS) that transportation, communication amd financial service sectors could contribute in suppressing inflation.

"Deflation in transportation is supported by government which encourages citizens to use public transportation. Thus there is deflation in public transportation," she explained, Wednesday (9/4).

Inflation in September Targeted Not to Hit 0.13 Percent

In the same period, gold jewelry commodity contributed the highest to inflation by 0.09 percent followed by chicken meat with 0.06 percent, red chili 0.05 percent, and birdeye chili 0.03 percent.

"Inflation in gold because gold price in global market is increasing," she added.
