The MUI's food, drug and cosmetics research institution (LPPOM MUI) distributed halal certificates to 31 small and medium industries (IKM) under the Thousand Islands Industry and Energy Sub-agency, on Thursday (9/5).

"They (IKMs) have passed the audit process and requirements," expressed Thousand Islands Industry and Energy Sub-agency Head, Melinda Sagala.
Several requirements must be fulfilled, which are having the New Entrepreneur group (WUB), production training, sustainable or continuous products, regular sales and products that meet the health (hygienic) elements according to Islamic law.
59 IKMs Facilitated to Join Creative IKM Products Event in North JakartaShe added that those 31 IKMs are dabbling in processed food products such as fish balls, fish crackers, squid sticks, fish chips and salted fish. In addition, as many as160 IKMs have yet to receive a halal certificate.
"Hopefully this certificate is useful and can increase production and the economy of the Thousand Islands residents," she hoped.
