RW 03 Kelapa Gading Timur Achieves Kampung Proklim 2019 Award

RW 03 Kelapa Gading Timur Urban Village, Kelapa Gading, North Jakarta becomes the only one representative from Jakarta Government that received Kampung Proklim (Climate Resilience Village Program) award from Ministry of Environment and Forestry (KLHK).

According to plan, this award will be submitted at the peak of Climate Festival 2019 event held at Century Hotel, Tuesday (10/1).

North Jakarta Environment Sub-department Head, Slamet Riyadi mentioned, this achievement makes North Jakarta proud because RW 03 Kelapa Gading is the one of hundreds participants that represent other regional governments.

"It is only 18 provinces that got the award. Actually North Jakarta also sends RW 05 Rawa Badak Selatan and RW 01 Rorotan," he informed, Monday (9/30).

He assessed, this award could be achieved because of high participation of citizens in variety of environmental programs such as waste bank, greening, waste reduction program, and yard utilization for greening.

All this time, he added, his side has coached residents and provided tools for waste bank and composting.

"One of our interesting innovation is to convert savings in waste bank to save gold through cooperation with Pegadaian," he stated.

Besides RW 03 Kelapa Gading Timur, Koja Majelis Taklim Waste Bank also achieved an award in environmental sector because of its innovation to change plastic waste into paving block. Moreover, this waste bank is considered active and has various innovation programs to reduce waste.

"Its award was given by Ministry of Rural and Underdeveloped Regions last week in Bengkulu," he added.
