202 Schools in North Jakarta Already Have Waste Bank

The North Jakarta administration launched the Let's Save with Waste movement in schools last October 2018. Until now, 202 schools, from elementary to high schools, already have waste banks that are actively operating.

They are all active. Each of them sells to sub-agency, sub-district up to collectors

From 202 schools, 168 out of them are public and 34 other schools are private.

"They are all active. Each of them sells to sub-agency, sub-district up to collectors," North Jakarta Environment Agency Head, Slamet Riyadi, Monday (10/14).

City to Form Waste Management Agency in Each Regions

He explained the volume of waste produced by each school is not too large. However, his party is more looking at aspects of waste management awareness at school.

Technically the movement to save waste in schools has also worked with one of the national banks. Moreover customers can convert the waste into savings.

"10 schools are directly developed by us. We hope there will be an early awareness effect of this movement," he stated.
