City-NBA Collaborates to Implement the Basketball Education Curriculum

The Jakarta Provincial Government along with the National Basketball Association (NBA) signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) in the implementation of Basketball Education Curriculum at Soemantri Brodjonegoro Sport Hall (GOR), Kuningan, South Jakarta, Thursday (10/17).

During these two years, both have partnered to develop the abilities of basketball coaches and teachers, as well as students. This collaboration is the first time they have worked with anyone in the entire world.

According to Anies Baswedan, Jakarta Governor, Jakarta becomes the first city to work with the NBA to compile a curriculum for basketball training and this is something historic and is built through a collaborative approach that invites all parties to collaborate with competencies, knowledge and relevant experience.

He mentions the Junior NBA is one of the best institutions in basketball training, so the city welcomes this cooperation agreement.

"We hope this partnership will be able to grow the potential of children's basketball, making them healthier. In the long run, it is expected to bring out the best talents to compete in the international arena, the good name of Jakarta and Indonesia," he expressed, as quoted by the Jakarta PPID's press release.

More than 4,500 schools and madrasas in Jakarta will feel the curriculum of Jr. NBA. Through programs that are integrated with Physical Education and Health subjects (Penjaskes) and extracurricular, more than 1.5 million children will get the best basketball science, training and experience from the world.

That curriculum is a guide specifically designed to enhance teen sports experience and teach basketball at all stages of skill development, with more than 300 video tutorials. The coaches and sports teachers can access curriculum and tutorial videos of Jr NBA through the jrnba.asia page or by downloading the Jr. NBA Coach Academy app. (Jr. NBA Coaches Academy) on the App Store and Google Play Store.

Hopefully it will have a long-term impact in the future. Event the city is also committed to revitalize sports facilities in all regions and capital schools.

"I really appreciate it very much and we fully support the involvement of children. We feel the coaches in particular experience transformation. These coaches have good experience and competent. They are very expressive and have high spirits when training. So we feel grateful for this opportunity," he stated.
