Jakarta Council (DPRD) Commission D approved budget to build sluices in 10 locations as proposed by Central Jakarta Water Resources (SDA) Sub-department in City Budget (APBD) General Policy and Provisional Budget Priorities and Funding Levels (KUA-PPAS) 2020.

Commission D Chairwoman, Ida Mahmudah stated, her side has given approval for this budget proposal and hopes Jakarta to be free from inundation during the rainy season.

Central Jakarta SDA Sub-department Acting Head (Plt) Saiful explained, his side proposed sluice construction in 10 locations within one year with total budget Rp 2 billion.
"Its purpose is to facilitate water flow and prevent it from being blocked since it can trigger flood," he added.
These 10 sluices are planned to be built in Utan Kayu River that is in front of Cempaka Putih Naval Complex (2 sluices), Utan Kayu River on Jalan Lancar I Kemayoran, Utan Kayu River at BPKP Complex of Cempaka Putih Sub-district.
Then two sluices in Sentiong River on the eastern side of Jalan Bendungan Jago of Cempaka Putih Utara, two sluices in Krukut River of Jalan Karet I, and Askes PHB channel on Jalan Suprapto.
"Insya Allah it can be realized in 2020," he expressed.
