Payung Island Residents Happy to Get Access to Clean Water

"Total 49 of 51 houses in this island have been connected by SDA Department through distribution pipe. Our job is to operate it," he mentioned.

According to him, SWRO technology is able to produce freshwater from sea water by suppressing the sea salt levels.

"From this SWRO, we distribute the freshwater to the residents through pipelines," he conveyed.

In early 2019, PAM Jaya has served residents in Untung Jawa Island. IPA SWRO production capacity in that island reaches 2.5 liters per second for 288 families.

Jakarta SDA Department Head, Juaini Jusuf explained, in the near future, SWRO will also be inaugurated in Pramuka Island, Panggang Island, and Kelapa Dua Island.

"SWRO construction in these four islands uses Rp 80 billion from city budget," he conveyed.

Construction of four SWROs which started in 2018 will be managed effectively by PAM Jaya per January 2020.

"We will effectively carry out maintenance until end of December 2019. Next year, it will be carried out by PAM Jaya," he stated.
