Integrated Mass Transport Exposed at Jakarta Integrated Urban Transformation

The integrated mass transport improvement in the capital became an interesting topic of discussion at the Jakarta Integrated Urban Transformation meeting of the 3rd  South - south Knowledge Exchange which was held at Ruang Pola, Block G, City Hall, Monday (12/16).

Our target is 60 percent of Jabodetabek people will use integrated mass public transportation by 2029

The event is initiated by World Bank and attended by 45 countries and regions.

Jabodetabek Transportation Management Board's Infrastructure Director, Edi Nursalam, explained about Jak Lingko and main idea of mass transportation improvement which integrate Jakarta with Bogor, Depok, Tangerang and Bekasi (Jabodetabek).

"Our target is 60 percent of Jabodetabek people will use integrated mass public transportation by 2029," he explained.

His explanation attracted the attention of Eric, one of the meeting participants from South Africa. He questioned the amount of funds spent to realize the project.

"How much does it cost to realize integrated mass transportation," he questioned.

Similar question was also submitted by Sugeng, a representative from Semarang. He argued that integrated mass transportation in Jakarta is still difficult to realize in his city.

"It actually needs large fund to realize the project like Jak Lingko," he closed.
